Dare To Dream!

Like in a really good book
where possibility
is the rippled reflection of stilled water,
hope moving outward,
gold rush fever
and the possibility of
what could be,
of where we could go
is deeper than we know
because these books are without borders,
these phrases without fences,
imprinting upon us what was meant
to be shown
not just in the story… but in our selves!
There are hallways of mirrors out there.
It’s the drama, mystery and adventure
of the imagination,
inspiration pointing fingers
asking,
“What would you do?”
“What could you do?”
and we think…
“I could do that.”
“And maybe - maybe I’ll try this.”
It doesn’t take much more
to build a thirst for words,
where every book we read
sees us the hero,
where the enemy is known to us intimately.
It’s the knowledge and identity of those
who live inside its pages
becoming enlivened within our own lives
as every page turned
pulls us deeper
into this rippled and feverish reflection,
every chapter
becoming our own milestone,
conclusions leading to sequels and trilogies
where the line between us and them thins
and we begin to look at ourselves differently,
we feel differently…
Growing, becoming.
We are each the authors of our own lives,
learning that life isn’t just like a book,
it is one,
still unwritten.
And as the hero
we don’t have to look very far past the question,
“Where do we go from here?”
And we answer, “Anywhere.”
Anywhere we dare to dream.
